Springtime planting

One of our family activities for a FHE was to go and buy flower seeds so we could plant them around the perimeter of the house this spring. We let everyone choose their own seeds and it was a lot of fun to see what everyone picked.

Since we live in such a cold place and you really can't plant anything until late May, early June, we decided to get one of these indoor starters.

These are the seeds we all bought. You can't see them all clearly, but we all got flowers and Matthew bought basil. We plant basil every year and freeze it so we can have fresh basil, so he's pretty fanatical about his basil plants. We usually have more than one plant every year :)

We decided to use just a few of the planting pellets to start out with, so we each used 6 and put about 2-3 seeds per disc.

Everyone got to participate, even Lexi.

If I were a flower person that would be a wonderful way to do it! I can't seem to keep anything but my kids alive! That's such a fun way to get your kids involved!
