AUTISM AWARENESS WEEK

***These events are for everyone! You do not have to have autism to participate. These events are for fun and to raise awareness and money for our local Autism community. Thanks for looking

I'm part of our local Idaho Autism Community Committee and I would like to promote Autism Awareness Week that I am helping to coordinate. Please look through the following list of events. We have a lot of fun things going on, some free and some fundraisers.

AUTISM AWARENESS WEEK

M A R C H 28 – A P R I L 2

MOVIES 4 AUTISM
DATE: Saturday, March 28
TIME: 9:30am
PLACE: The REX
COST: $5 per person
Instead of cartoons come see a movie at the REX & help support the Idaho Autism
Community! TICKETS ARE LIMITED! Purchase your tickets ahead of time by sending us
an email to idahoautismcommunity@ymail.com! Tickets are for
"Monsters vs. Aliens"!

SCRAPPIN’ 4 AUTISM
DATE: Saturday, March 28
TIME: 10:00am – 2:00pm
PLACE: Madison High School
COST: $20/person BEFORE 3/20
$25/person 3/21 or at door
Come & scrapbook to support autism! We will have local businesses and booths there to do
mini classes, make-n-takes, a raffle, lunch, prizes & more! Be sure to register before 3/20 to
guarantee your spot at a table and lunch!

BOUNCE 4 AUTISM
DATE: Monday, March 30
TIME: 6:00pm – 10:00pm
PLACE: Madison High School Gyms
COST: $5 per person
BRING THE WHOLE FAMILY & COME BOUNCE 4 AUTISM ON
GIANT BLOW UP TOYS & SLIDES! FUN for all ages!

READ 4 AUTISM
DATE: Tuesday, March 31
TIME: 6:00pm – 8:00pm
PLACE: Madison Public Library
COST: FREE
Come join us for read alouds and storytelling by professional storytellers, Omar & Lori
Hansen, watch a small puppet show about friendship, see a short video clip about autism, fill
out a screening tool to take to your physician, participate in Q & A, and be entered into a
drawing to win prizes!

WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY – APRIL 2, 2009 (Thursday)
Free Parent Packets with information about autism will be handed out to parents in Idaho
Falls. For information on the place & time call Cindy Caudle @ (208) 339-4827. Parent
packets will also be given out in Rexburg that evening at the following event…

AN EVENING WITH AUTISM
PANEL DISCUSSION w/ Q & A
TIME: 7:00pm – 8:30pm
PLACE: Room 120, Taylor Building
(BYU-Idaho Campus / Rexburg, ID)
COST: FREE. Open to the public.
Reception to follow. Light refreshment & drink provided. Business casual dress.

What a fantastic blog you have. I love all the pictures of your family, and how wonderful that you are working so hard on Autism awareness! It is an important issue that effects many families!

So why autism? Does one of the kids have it? Not that the cause isn't worthy, just wondered.

That’s great Dacia! I proud of you for getting involved ; )
We actually thought Jenaya had a form of Autism but she has been diagnosed with two other disorders. My heart goes out for all the children (and parents) struggling with some much in their lives.
