The Day After Christmas

Bet you can't tell what this is?

It's our driveway AGAIN!! I bet your asking yourself, "What driveway?" I felt the same way when I saw it. This is actually what we went to bed to last night, but like I said in the previous post, we decided to stay in yesterday, on Christmas, and do nothing about the snow. Well, today we paid the consequences, AGAIN!!

Matthew trying to get some of that snow off our front entryway. I hate to say, but after the horrid winter we had last year and with this one looking to be much of the same, our front entryway roof is a little slanted! We've got to get one of those roof rakes so we can take some of that weight off that poor little roof.

Yet again you can't see any steps. We should have tried sledding on the stairs, that would have been fun!

This is what you can see of my beautiful picket fence.

The fence on the other side.
Just so you know this is not just powder snow, this is wet heavy packed snow. Great for snowmen, but not for shoveling!! Not to mention the mound the city snow plow built was extra packed!

After shoveling for about 1 & 1/2 hours Matthew and I had gotten the steps and about 1/3 of the driveway unburied. Then our wonderful neighbor came to the rescue!!! We have this awesome neighbor who uses his snow blower to do our driveway every once and awhile. He usually does it all sly and we don't even know it until it's done. Anyway, he came over today and said he was leaving, but that he wanted us to use his snow blower. I have the best neighbors!!!!

This is Matthew dreaming this was his own :)

Now, the one thing that you can't see from all these photos was that we had a lovely wind this morning, so every time we shoveled the snow to the side we'd get a lovely dusting of snow back in the face. Needless to say, it was freezing. Same thing for the snow blower. On one side of the driveway (against the wind) when Matthew would blow the snow, he'd get quite a shower back in the face. He did ask me if he had the "Dumb and Dumber" snot face, but thank goodness he didn't! The question now is, "Where do we put all the snow we shovel?" As you can see the yard is running out of room. YIKES!

After we got the driveway dug out and we actually went venturing around town I saw quite a few buried mailboxes and other such things. I feel so bad for the poor postal people. Good luck even finding the mail boxes! Like I said, there's no where for the snow to go, but up in piles everywhere. The problem with that is that you can't see past them when you're driving! It makes for quite the adventure trying to pull out far enough when you stop so you don't stop on a slope where you'll get your vehicle stuck, but at the same time be able to see if cars are coming, and all the while not getting hit. Now you see why we'd rather stay inside!!!
I was told last year that this town only has a winter like last once every ten years! Not two years in a row. I know I post about the weather a lot, but every time I see it I just can't believe there's so much of it!!!

Amazing! I saw your last snow posts, this is even more. We don't have snow like that but it will be below zero today. It has been so freezing. My plan is not going anywhere. I think that should be your plan, plus NO driving.

Love the snow. Only because I'm hundreds of miles away. We don't have snow just freezing rain. Staying home is a good plan. Stay warm!

We are out of town and can't believe how much snow there is. Can't wait to clean the driveway.

Man, I LOVE your pictures, they totally captured the essence of what we endure her. I can't believe your fence is nearly covered, that's crazy!

I need to move to somewhere warm---I'm definitely NOT a girl that loves or even LIKES snow. I had to shovel my driveway AND be towed out of my driveway not to mention the ditch!! Needless to say---I am buying a 4 wheel drive as soon as I can!! I've had enough of WINTER, that's for sure!

It looks soooo beautiful. But wow, I am not envious at all. :) At least you get to bundle your kids up all cute like! I love little ones in beanies and mittens.

Are you still shoveling snow? I'm going through "Adventures in our family" posts withdrawls. I thought that you might be busy. Then I remembered all the snow you've been getting, so I figured that you must still be shoveling. Is it too terrible of me to be laughing inside. I'm sorry, it's kind of funny...no? Maybe just a little? You know if I was there, on a visit, I would gladly help.
love ya!
