SPT - Which Doorbell?

This is a new blog group that I have joined called Self Portrait Tuesday. I thought it would be a fun idea and it would give me something to blog about every Tuesday! This week challenge was a pretty easy one for me to start with: "if i came to visit you next week, how would i know which doorbell to ring? do you have a formal entrance? should i come to the front door? or do you prefer your guests to come around back? (would you be surprised if i came in through the garage?!?)"

First of all, to get to our house you'll have to wade through the pool of melting snow at the edge of our driveway. Or you can just jump over it. The smart thing to do would be to just park in the driveway and avoid it all together.

Next you'll have to tromp up a whole lot of stairs, which are usually covered in 2 inches of ice. Thank goodness it's warmed up enough so that people can come to my front door! Notice the Christmas decorations still up because it hasn't been warm enough to take them down. I better get on that.

Then once you reach the top of mount everest, you'll want to pray the big pile of snow on top of the roof doesn't fall on your head. It's really cold in your face!

You can either ring the doorbell or knock, but either way, the kids will come running and fight over who gets to open the door. It takes them awhile to unlock the door because the lock is hard to unlock. Once it's open, you'll be greeted by these little ones.

You could try the back door, but you'll have to walk through a lot of snow to get there. Usually only our back door neighbors use that door in the summer time when you can see the grass.

When you leave our house this is the lovely view you'll see...

Yes, there's a porta-potty right across from our house. They are building a house across from us, so who know's how long that beautiful landscaping will be there. At least we know the construction workers are using that instead of who knows what!

Finally this is a picture of home sweet home. We love our house because it's the first house we've ever owned! We lived in apartments for the first 8.5 years of our marriage while Matthew was in school and it's nice to have room. Whether it's through the front door or the back, we love it when people visit!

Brrrrr! I'm getting cold just looking at all that snow! I lived in UT going to school and served my mission in NY, but being a native Texan and blessed to live in a warmer climate I forget that there's a good portion of the US still living with left-over winter this time of year. I had to laugh at the porta-potty! We were one of the first homes built on our street and we lived with unsightly landscaping for months before we felt good about inviting family over to see our new home. Your kids are adorable! Hope to see more SPT's from ya in the future!

The portapotty cracks me up! Hopefully you won't have to look at it for too long.

I am laughing about the portapotty!
It is so strange the things we have to stare at outside our doors! Too funny!

Oh, my goodness- one of the many reasons I am so glad I don't live in Idaho anymore! I am not a big snow lover! We have a port-a-potty right across from our home, too. Luckily, it is the last in the area to be built! Yeah to the end of construction. Love the little ones fighting over who gets to answer the door. That happens in my house too!

Welcome to SPT! You'r4e going to LOVE it! It's always fun to meet new blog faces! And you have such a beautiful family! I love that quote by Henry B Eyring...if only I would start EVERY DAY with that challenge.

I experienced Time Out For Women a couple of years ago and felt so incredibly spiritually fed and recharged! That NOTE book is amazing! What a creative and fun friend!

Thank you for your kind comment on my blog! :)

SPT huh? Sounds like a good idea. I love the description of all the snow.
That little Lexi Lu Lu is too cute. And good to know there's a porta-potty just in case someone can't make it over the pool of melting snow or up mount evrest.

Dacia! Do you remember me? Chelsea's friend...Sarah's sister. Anyway, I saw you had a blog so I wanted to see how you and your family are. Your children are absolutely adorable! I can't believe that Ethan is such a big boy already. I remember when Chels was living with you and he was just itty bitty. You guys look like you are doing well, and surviving all the snow :)

Welcome to SPT. Great job on your post! I always wish we'd get more snow here, but maybe not as much as you've got.
