Rexburg Temple Open House Volunteers

Matthew and I were able to volunteer at the Rexburg Temple Open house yesterday. We had a 5 1/2 hour shift and it was a lot of fun. Jokingly Matthew was called one of the "frozen chosen" ones because he volunteered to work in the parking lot for that long. He got to direct traffic for parking and boy was it cold!!! He knew he was going to be out there for a long time, so he was prepared with the long johns, beanie and warm gloves. He still used hand warmers under his gloves to help keep him warmer. It was in the 20's just to give you an idea of how warm it was. I was lucky because I was indoors the entire time. I was able to help usher on the third floor, which is the floor with the sealing rooms. During my shift I was able to view all the sealing rooms and the children's nursery. The sealing rooms are so beautiful and they have gorgeous chandeliers. If you are unfamiliar with the temple, these are the rooms where families can be sealed for all eternity. When my shift was over I got to go down to the first level and view the beautiful brides room. It was such a wonderful experience for both of us to be able to help at the temple. This was a "once in a lifetime" opportunity for us and we were so blessed to get to participate. It was a long 5 1/2 hours and we were grateful to come home and relax afterwards, but it was such a special experience that we were glad to be able to have done it.

Wow Dacia. That is really cool. You're right. I'm sure that's a once in a lifetime type experience. How neat for your family to watch it be built and now ready for use.
