My Husband Rocks

Katy Lin's prompt & challenge are in black and my responses are in red.

Prompt/Theme for Friday, February 13, 2009

1. Tell the story of your first Valentine's Day together.

I think I made reference to our first Valentine's day together in my last MHR post. We like to make our own family traditions, so one that we started that first Valentine's was to always go to dinner at Outback. We wanted to make it a point to go somewhere nicer for Valentines. And we always go before the crazy dinner rush! I think we went every year of our marriage except one during our poor college years. Anyway, since we've eaten ribs at Texas Roadhouse, we've moved our Valentine's tradition there. Sorry Outback. Anyway, that first Valentine's was plenty romantic!

2. In reference to the first article, which "secrets" do you do well, which could you work on, which do you struggle with?

I think that we're both really good at "watering" our marriage. We're not into the "grass is greener" elsewhere. We both work at making each other happy and we spend time cultivating our marriage. We also have realized over the course of our marriage that life isn't always happy, nor is marriage always fun, but those days or times are always temporary! There's always tomorrow if today's not that great :) I personally could do better at making more time for us to have alone time. Life is so busy with children and so many other things, but I know how important it is to make time for those "romantic" moments!

3. If you decide to take the advice of the second article, tell us what you're going to do, or share pictures if you have time!

What to do, what to do? Hmmmm, maybe I'll do them all ;)

Challenges:
1. Even though I do not always agree with the commercial hype of Valentine's Day, take advantage of the excuse to be especially romantic and dote upon your hubby!

2. Even after Valentine's Day is over, be intentional about showing genuine kindness and tenderness to your husband!
