My new calling is Cub Scout Committee Chair and I went to my first Round Table last night. I always told my husband that any scouts was going to be his responsibility, because he was the boy. Imagine my surprise when the first counselor called me to be the committee chair. I think I said something like "you've got to be kidding me". I don't remember saying that, but Matthew remembers it. I guess it was the furthest thing from my mind when we had that meeting. I actually went home and cried. Later that day my son asked me "Mom, why do you hate scouts?" I told him that I didn't hate scouts, but that I just didn't want to be in charge of it. I'm over that now and I'm ready to do my responsibility, but it's been a month long process to even get a grip on what the heck I'm supposed to be doing. Hey, I'm a work in process!!

You kill me! I love you! It's cracking me up that you went home and cried about it. I'm sure you'll develop a love for it and how it helps your son and the other boys. And can't you put some ribbon or embellishments on that shirt?
good luck. all i have to say is that is the hardest calling i have ever had. I don't think i did a great job at it, but it a LOT harder when the ward doesn't even really have a scouting program, whoa! anyway, sorry for the ramble...you'll do great! have fun, show your son how much you LOVE scouts :D
