Ouchie!

You wouldn't know it from this picture, but Lexi got her first ouchie and she was not very happy. I was cooking dinner and she got into the trash can. Her new thing is to open the trash can and take stuff out when no one's looking. Anyway, she got her hands on a can of corn that I had just opened and got her index finger stuck in the can. She started screaming and I turned around to see her hand stuck on an empty can of corn. When I got it off I noticed that her finger was cut right in the crease. It would not stop bleeding as I was holding her, pinching her finger and trying to find a small enough band aid all at the same time. And of course she was crying because I was pinching her little finger. I could not find a band aid upstairs, so I sat her in her high chair and made Kalin pinch the wipe on her little finger while I looked in the kitchen for a band aid. Lexi liked that even less and started screaming even more. To add to that, Kalin whined the whole time because she didn't want to do it either. She was trying to hold her little finger while Lexi was trying to wiggle away. I found band aids, but they were all large enough to cover her whole hand. I couldn't stand the screaming anymore, so I took Lexi and went on the search again upstairs. Finally I found a small band aid (a Star Wars one--thanks Ethan), but as I was trying to put it on, her finger was so small that the band aid got caught to the other sticky side, instead of going around her finger. I figured it would do the job like that, so I left it and put her back in her high chair. By that time she's screaming her head off because, now, she does not like the band aid on her finger and shen was trying to get it off. I went back to get the corn off of the stove because it was boiling. Then, Matthew comes to the rescue with a tiny band aid that he found in our first aid kit. So I toke off the old band aid and realized that her finger was still bleeding. We put on the tiny band aid and she started screaming again because she just did not like it on her finger. We sat down to eat dinner and she held her finger straight the whole time and would not use it. She's still cried, so her cute older brother showed her his band aid on his finger and told her it was okay. She calmed down, but would still not use the finger. She spent the entire dinner with her little finger straight and she refused to use it to eat her dinner. We could hardly stand how cute her little bandaged finger was, so we took a few pictures to post on our blog. It did stop bleeding and the band aid did not stay on her finger the whole night. Sometime, about an hour later we realized that it was no longer on her finger and we still haven't found it!

Poor little girl, sounds like an exciting moment in the Alba home. It is a great thing you have such helpful and loving little ones to help in such situations. I love your posts and seriously just love the happenings of daily life.

I was cracking up the whole way through this. I can picture it all so vividly. Glad that everyone survived and hopefully it was not too tramatic for her.

Poor thing! I can't decide whether I mean you or her - I know it's just as tough on you, if not worse!
